New Guide to Advancement:  The National Advancement Committee has just finished rewriting the ?Guide to Advancement.?  Since this is a completely new rewrite of the previous ?Advancement Committee Guidebook? it is difficult to point out the exact changes.  The National Committee has taken the approach to reorganize the guide to make it easier to search specific questions and procedures, hopefully making the guide more user friendly than in previous versions.  Copies are in printing now and should be available in the Scout Shop soon.  This guide covers advancement guidelines from Tigers to Venturing Awards and everything in between.  If you are interested in seeing a copy, you can get a PDF version at this link:

New Council Fundraising Website: The Boy Scouts of America have launched a new website to help Local Councils Raise money through online donations. This powerful new tool makes supporting French Creek Council a simple and secure process, just like online shopping.  Also we will be able to add additional campaigns to the site for projects that we designate donations toward.  To see the site live, or to make a donation, please follow the link below and thanks for making scouting possible.  http://aplacetogive.scouting.org/magento/give-to-local-scouting?cid=532

The 7th Annual Custaloga Town French and Indian War Encampment
Father's Day Weekend, June 16 and 17, 2012

Relive the days of yore on the Pennsylvania frontier at the 7th annual Custaloga Town French and Indian War Encampment, Father's Day weekend, June 16 & 17, 2011. Thrill to the crash of musketry and the boom of artillery as the British, French, and Indians battle for control of the Ohio River Valley. See colonial-themed artwork, learn how to make a quill-pen or carve a powderhorn, and watch artisans and tradesmen practice their crafts from days gone bye. Acquaint yourself with local colonial history. Children will enjoy the Native American kid's games program where they are instructed how to play authentic games from the time. Walk among the tents of over 200 reenactors and view camp life of the 1750's. Listen to lectures on local 18th century history by respected historians.

The encampment will be open for public view from 9am to 7pm on Saturday, June 16, and from 9am to 4pm on Sunday, June 17. Thanks to the charitable support by local area businesses - admission to the event and parking are free!!!  Make plans to visit historic Custaloga Town and the F & I War Encampment, today!
