Oliver Perry District Roundtable Announcements

 

Roundtable is held the 2nd Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM. We offer Training, tips, advice and much more to everyone involved in Scouting. This includes Youth, Adult Leaders, and Parents! The  location is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 1101 South Hill Road, Erie.Google Map.

 

Erie Seawolves Scout Night

Event date: Friday June 22nd Save the date! This years game includes a Seawolves hat and patch as well as the sleepover in the outfield. Cost: $8 reserved seat ticket $14 reserved seat ticket and all you can eat group picnic

 

Eriez Speedway Scout Night

Event Date: July 1 2012 Dirt track racing at its best! Bring the family out for a night of racing and Fireworks!

2013 National Scout Jamboree

 

Event Date: July 15-24, 2013 The Summit Bechtel reserve will be the new home for the Jamboree in 2013. French Creek Council will be represented by 36 Boy Scouts and 8 Venturing Youth. We are limited to 4 Boy Scout Adult Leaders and 2 Venturing Adult Leaders. Online Registration and $100 deposit are required for all French Creek Council participants.

Training Events for French Creek Council

 

Venturing Leader Training

Who: Parents, Cub Scout Leaders, Boy Scout Leaders, and Venturing Leaders

What: Training on the operations of a BSA High Adventure Venturing Program

When: May 19th 9AM until 4PM

Where: Custaloga Town Moss Training Center

Why: To Improve Unit based High Adventure Programs

How Much: $10 per person for training (includes trained Patch and handouts)

Food will not be provided, please pack a lunch

 

Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader Training Weekend

Event date: September 15-16 Baloo Owl and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skill's Courses will be offered. This training is for Parents, Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venturing Leaders. Baloo is required to take Cub Scouts Camping, Owl is required to take Webelos Camping. Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skill's is required for Scoutmasters and their assistants to be considered "Trained". 

 

Youth Leadership Training

Event Date: September 15-16 Location: Custaloga Town Scout Reservation Youth Leadership Training is for Venture Crew members, Senior Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders and their assistants. Scouts will be trained using the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops/Crews. Boy Scouts must be at least First Class Rank in order to attend. Check in will begin at 8AM Saturday Sept. 15 and checkout will be at 11:30 AM Sunday Sept. 16. Cost: $15 per youth before Sept. 1st $20 per youth after Sept. 1st.

 

Training Extravaganza

Event Date: Saturday Novemeber 3rd at Saegertown High School Features classroom training opportunities for Parents, Scout Leaders, and anyone interested in Scouting programs. This is the largest training event in Northwestern PA with classes ranging from Cub Scout Leader Basic Training for Den Leaders and Cubmasters to the Unit Based High Adventure programs offered through Venturing Program and everything in between.

www.myscouting.org- Includes Youth Protection, Weather, Safety afloat, and position specific trainign required for Cub Masters, and Den leaders to be considered "Trained". Please make sure all adults in all positions within your unit complete Youth Protection Training and submit a copy of the training certificate to the Council Office.

 

BSA Supplemental Training- Includes conducting a safe outing, orientation for new parents, how to run a pinewood derby, cold weather camping and much more!

What Are Commissioners? Commissioners are district and council leaders who help Scout units succeed. They coach and consult with adult leaders of Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Varsity teams, and Venturing crews. Commissioners help maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America. They also oversee the unit charter renewal plan so that each unit reregisters on time with an optimum number of youth and adult members.

Journey To Excellence Award- This program takes the place of the Centennial Unit/District/Council program that we have used for the past three years culminating to the 100th Anniversary of Scouting in America. Goals for the program are based on national standards and improvement opportunities within our local program.
