 | | In 2010, the Boy Scouts of America is celebrating our 100th anniversary. That’s a full century of teaching values and character to millions of boys who have gone on to become astronauts, statesmen and successful businessmen among a few thousand other professions! To help celebrate our 100th Anniversary, the French Creek Council has begun issuing a brand new series of Friends of Scouting Council Strips. There are actually TWO new series - one for Cub Scouting and one for Boy Scouting. Each year, anyone contributing $60 to our Family Friends of Scouting Campaign will be able to “advance a rank.” Contibutors giving $60.00 (or more) to FOS in 2006 may select the Cub series, which started in 2005 with the Tiger Cub Shoulder Strip and continues with the Bobcat Shoulder Strip for 2006 (pictured). Or, anyone contributing $60 (or more) to FOS may select the Boy Scout series, which started in 2005 with Tenderfoot and continues for 2006 with Second Class (pictured). Anyone contributing $100 can collect BOTH the Cub CSP & the Boy Scout CSP – that’s a savings of $20 !!! The Cub series will culminate in 2010 with the Arrow of Light and the Boy Scout series will end the same year with Eagle. Don’t worry if you didn’t understand all that - the most difficult thing would be to decide which series you wish to collect! Make sure you talk to your Unit Leader and Unit Committee to have a brief Family Friends of Scouting presentation sometime in January, February or March, 2006 so you can have your opportunity to get in on this spectacular series of Council Shoulder Strips. They're sure to become collector's items! If you missed out on the 2 issued for 2005, there is still a limited number available. Please contact Susan at the McGarvey Scout Service Center to request yours. |
